NEANDER 2009
30. April 2009
It’s that time, once again: spring has sprung, and with it comes the joy of tramping through the country on two wheels. Neander, of course, did not hibernate through the winter. Instead, we have been doing our daunting homework. Relentlessly, we have not permitted the requests and critiques of the conference guests, and above all the test drivers, to go unanswered. For the 2009 season, the Neander will be even more manly, more “cherry”, more in-depth and more diversified.
What happened? Well, while the archaic chopper seat of last year has proven itself truly ultracool for many drivers, it is also just a bit wearing on the driver. Thus, in a stroke of genius, using the designs of old touring saddles, a completely new seat has been designed, which really does the trick. Once mounted, you won’t want to put this motorcycle away. Thanks to its ergonomic design, the leather seat proves itself a blessing for the driver’s backside. At the same time, so that the machine won’t seem ungainly, a great short tail was installed, which not only houses a hidden directional indicator, but also really lets the cherry rear wheel come into its own. A 260 tire can finally, truly perform. On our motorcycle, it definitely provides the best driving properties, and it really looks great.
The entire tail assembly has come together so well that even backyard grease monkeys will only find a couple of spots for retrofitting.
Totally hot: The instrumentation display is now in the rearview mirror. This gives the tank a better, cleaner line as well as an inconspicuous and ultramodern appearance. Analog Instrumentation lovers may continue to insist on VDO tachometers, of course. We are nothing, if not flexible for our customers. Of course, then the mirror will be missing…;-)
Yet another intoxicating beauty: the exhaust system! The dual exhaust pipes for each cylinder all lead to a shared tailpipe, which peeks out of the motorcycle on the right side behind the transmission. Shorter, sharper looking and with a simpler elegance; the idea is difficult to express.
A couple of details of the revolutionary twin forks were optimized in ways barely visible on the outside. Their silky smooth response continues to shine.
We have also become a bit more cosmopolitan with regard to the enamel. After our white model, blew the conference visitors away last year, one customer requested a model in classic British green with gold trimming, which was quite the rage among the speed freaks of the Seventies.miri
Overall, we have remained true to our motto; we still provide the strongest, most efficient factory-built motorcycle in the world. No other factory-built exhibits such a formidable wheelbase. No other motorcycle in the world, even those given to the most corpulent nature, tries to inject diesels into a new orbit. Our engineers and the drivers all characterize the motor as “perfect”, and it purrs like a rabid polar bear in a seal tank, even in the upper RPM range.
The Neander 2009 remains a biggest street-legal “sledge hammer” on market and can’t be topped with regard to comfort in this revised edition. Which makes it a pity to have to sell these machines….
