A brief review of the “Custombike” and Essen Motor Show 2007

With a slight kink in the neck stemming from the non-ergonomic design of the drunk tanks, we can glance into the stormy visions of the future with the eyes agleam. The introduction of the Neander was a complete success at both the Essen Motor Show as well as at the “Custombike” in Bad Salzuflen.

“Wait a minute!”, I’m sure someone wants to say. “I told you at the conference that your bike is plug ugly”. Yes, it’s true. Of course there was criticism, however, the backslaps and words of praise and recognition were louder, and that coming from the upper levels of the vehicle manufacturing. Overall, the outstandingly innovative nature of our motor was appreciated as much as the creative implementation and the superb manufacture of our chassis. Sufficient incentive for us to continue as planned.

While the conference guests in Bad Salzflen were definitely in the know about the development of the Neander, many of those in Essen should also be noted as quickly inquisitive observers. Both of the events were ideally suited for many interested parties and experts to engage themselves directly and intensively with the Neander.

Nah, nothing like that. Rather, we decided to experiment. In addition to the classic black for the unimprovable “Bad Black Motorcycle Friend”, we thought about those who were pleased by the old Porsche Carreras, Harley Superglides, Guzzi 850 GT’s and their timeless and uncomplicated clothing. They can’t imagine these classics with any other colors (whereby, neither white nor black are officially colors).

And justifiably so! With their vibrant image, these veterans of a time, when sex was still safe and fist fights were still honorable, have burned themselves into our mind’s eye forever. Therefore, we decided to put a Neander in white on wheels, to ask the public if that would appeal to them.

Black rules - white shines.

Our “conference parent” in Essen, the Brembo Company, was thoroughly impressed with the response evoked by our motorcycle; the Neander stood out in the exclusive company of the highly prized luxury cars. The Neander really was one of the most photographed vehicles at the Essen conference.

And? What did we get from all of the trouble and gourmet treatment? Absolutely right: heartburn and (believe it or not) a lot of new orders!

From the bottom of our heart, we would like to thank those who spoke with us at these conferences and troubled themselves to crawl through our motorbike with well-educated fingers. We wish each of you reading these sentences the best for 2008. Let’s diesel!
